Come hear the Cantata Singers of Ottawa present a program of music inspired by the very saddest of subjects. Not only is this exquisitely beautiful material, but much of it is stuff that you are likely to hear for the very first time:
- North American première of the fabulous Lamentations by John Duggan, featuring soprano and trumpet solos
- North American première of a very special new edition of the Miserere Mei by Allegri that you think is familiar but will find to be all new again
And, if that isn't enough, you may be tempted by the opportunity to
- hear yours truly sing bits of obscure latin text in plainchant
- hear our director Andrew McAnerney present a talk before the concert about the unusual history of the Allegri Miserere and this new edition
Besides all that, this concert is a matinée, so it will set you up perfectly for whatever you have to get down to in the evening!
Tickets are very affordable, even at the door, but heavily discounted if bought in advance.
